NBA Players season meetings, LeBron James leads Lakers, Clippers in exiting.
A historic day in the NBA gave way to an emotional meeting between NBA players inside the confines of the Walt Disney World Campus on Wednesday night, according to multiple reports.
After three Wednesday games were officially postponed due to player protests, NBA players met to discuss next steps. According multiple reports and first reported by Shams Charania of The Atheltic, the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, two of the NBA championship favorites, voted to boycott the remainder of the season.
“Sources: The Lakers and Clippers have voted to boycott the NBA season. Most other teams voted to continue. LeBron James has exited the meeting,” Charania tweeted.
“Every team besides Lakers and Clippers voted to continue playing. LeBron James said in meeting he want owners to be more involved/take action,” he added.
According to the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn, “Players such as LeBron are calling out the league’s owners AND Adam Silver to do more on social issues. Some players annoyed Silver hasn’t been in the inner bubble like they are and has been notably absent from the resumption.”
